Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Harley came to us as a last resort for his owners. Their veterinarian told them to euthanize him because he had "a mental disorder and would never be fixed". Well, we only had Harley for two days and he got out of his habits. What was the problem? He is a 9wk old kitten living by himself and an older couple. Kittens need constant attention, brain stimulus, and exercise. They need other cats to teach them "how to cat". We put him in with 16 other cats and he learned quickly how to cat.
Harley's mom was taken too soon. His previous owners found him, learned how to bottle feed, and kept him alive. But they weren't set up for a kitten, so they sought veterinary advice and after hearing that- sent him to us.
Harley's quirk is that he suckles. He was without a mom, and due to that, he wants to suckle everything. He will bite your hand and suckle it, a blanket, a toy, anything. He does eat both hard and wet food. His other quirk is that he will find a toy, grab it, and run around the house growling for attention! He is in no way mean.
Harley would do well in a home with a kitten his age. He is snuggly, playful, and all of his bad habits of growling, biting, and scratching out of fear and aggression have gone away. He is not fond of being held for long periods of time still, but we believe he will grow out of that, too.
Harley is a cat with special needs. He doesn't learn quickly and has many moments where he "zones out" and needs help coming back. He is not unsafe to be left alone. He needs to have a litter box in constant view, otherwise he will forget where one is and use the floor. Everything is always new and exciting for him, making him a super happy and entertaining kitty. He needs love and a whole lot of patience. He has been adopted and returned two days later. Only a truly special person will be able to understand Harley. Are you that person?
He has been fully vaccinated for distemper and leukemia, and a neuter/rabies appointment scheduled.
