My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daisy is a sweet girl with a heart of gold and a lot of personality. She loves her humans and everyone she meets (given a little time to warm up). She’s a big kisser and will go straight for your face and ears and basically any part of your body that’s exposed. Her favorite pastime is cuddling with you and getting rubs behind her ears – if you rub her ears and stop, she’ll paw at your hand to tell you to continue. You’ll have a loyal companion who will follow you around the house - sitting at your feet while you’re doing stuff in the kitchen or curling up next to your desk while you’re working from home. When she’s not snuggling or snoring in bed, she’s full of life and loves to play, from rough housing (hurling her 50 lb body at you) to tug-a-war to chasing balls. Daisy is very smart and learns quickly. She already picked up basic skills like sit, down, wait, and walks well off leash.

Before being rescued Daisy was in a bad situation where she was bred over and over without socialization or exposure to much outside of her kennel. As a result she suffers from fear and anxiety. She gets startled easily and is afraid of things that are new or foreign, which in her case is a lot of things. Her anxiety causes her to have accidents in the house but her foster parents have worked on giving her a regular schedule (every 2-3 hours) and reassure her that she’s loved and safe. She improved tremendously in only a few weeks and has fewer accidents now. She’s not good with other dogs which likely resulted from being forced to breed (who knows what other dogs have done to her). However, her foster home has a small dog that’s calm and non-reactive and they get along just fine. So she does have the capacity to get along with other dogs given the right introductions.

Daisy has been through a lot in her short 3 years of life yet she still has the capacity to love and trust people that she meets. She deserves a home where she feels safe and confident and a family that’s committed to helping her thrive. The love, loyalty and joy she'll give you in return will be immeasurable.
