Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet Honey is ready for her furever home! She is currently located in Charlotte, NC. Honey will be a year old this month (November) and weighs approximately 40 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all of her shots.
Honey loves to be outside! She is VERY active and loves to run and play with other dogs. She is ALL herding dog and when playing with other dogs, will nip at their back legs and chase/circle them. Honey will take corrections from other dogs, but does need those dogs to be more patient with her puppyish herding ways. Honey does have a small prey drive, so not sure how she would do with cats or other small animals. She would definitely do well in a home as the only dog or with another active dog (or dogs) to play with, preferably around her size or bigger as long as the others are fine with her dominating the toys.
Honey loves people! She will bark (loudly) when meeting new people, but once she realizes a person is friendly she is friendly and loving too! She still jumps up on people to get loving and is learning the "off" command. She does know the sit and down command. Honey would probably do best in a home with older dog savvy kids because of her herding instincts and her social skills that are still a work in progress due to her age.
Honey requires A LOT of exercise and she walks well on a leash. She can be protective of her yard, however will run for cover if an unsure "danger" persists. A large fenced backyard is a MUST and no apartment/condo living, as her bark is very loud and could be a nuisance to others in those types of close quarters.
Honey sleeps in a kennel at night and is potty trained. Generally, she is very quiet once she is in her kennel.
Honey would make a EXCELLENT agility or competitive sports dog if someone would be willing to put in the time. She is VERY motivated with balls and toys!!! She is an awesome ball player, but is a little stubborn giving it back...she'll bring it to you, but want to play tug a war to keep it;) She is also very treat motivated and takes treats gently. Honey will counter surf, so needs to be watched closely around food in her reach:)
Honey needs a confident pet leader who will continue to work on her social skills and to help her become a wonderful family member. If you think Honey would be a good match for your active life or family, please apply!
