My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*PLEASE NOTE: If interested in adopting Colby the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website: roversretreat.org *

Meet Colby! Colby is a strikingly handsome 8-month-old golden boy who came into rescue when his previous owners realized they no longer could care for him the way he deserved. Colby has been settling in in foster care and is now ready to find his forever family!

While initially wary of new people, Colby warms up super quickly and just wants to be your best friend! He will initially bark at new people, but just talking him through new intros and giving lots of yummy snacks he loves everyone shortly after meeting them. Once comfortable he’s a complete ham and just wants cuddles and to play. He is super affectionate and has the typical ‘velcro doggie’ golden behavior. Following his foster from room to room and always wanting to know where his people are. He will lay at your feet after a nice long walk, but is also a puppy and will happily jump up for zoomies around the house and ball play in the yard.

While still a puppy, at only 8 months old, Colby is medium-high energy and does love his naps. He has been getting about 5 miles of walking a day and ball throwing in the yard in between and this seems to have worked very well for him. He will just hang around with his people and nap throughout the day, but definitely needs plenty of walks and outdoor activities to keep him happy and healthy! He is still learning to walk on leash but has done well with the use of a gentle leader head collar when out walking.

Colby was not socialized much as a younger puppy, so he is still learning how to behave around other dogs. He can be intimidated at first, especially with bigger dogs, but he quickly warms up and wants to play. Colby will need another playful dog in his forever home to show him the ropes and help him learn how to ‘dog’ … and of course for plenty of playtime!

Colby has been a good house guest in his foster home. He has done very well with potty training so far, and with access to the yard will go out to potty on his own when he needs to. He has also been good at chewing only on his toys rather than his foster's belongings! He is a bit tough on the stuffed toys, so there should be some more durable toys in his toy basket. Colby will get startled with quick movements, even in the house, as he’s settling in. So, taking things slow and being patient with this cute fella is a must. In return, you will have the most loving boy who just wants to be with you all the time!

If you think you can provide Colby with a great forever home complete with an active family, another playful dog, and a nice yard for zoomies, please fill out an adoption application on our website: roversretreat.org

*PLEASE NOTE: Colby's adoption fee is $500 and he is being fostered in Redondo Beach*
