My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mickey came to us as an abandoned dog from central CA. He was picked up by a good samaritan who gave him to us to find him a good home. Mickey is a GEM! He is a beautiful black and white border collie who is a little over one year old. He is a blank slate! He knew zero commands and was not housebroken, but in only a few days with a foster, he has learned to ring a bell to go outside and is learning commands fast! His foster has discovered he has incredible herding instincts and thinks that this needs to be channeled into some proper herding training that will either go toward herding competition or actually working on a ranch. He will probably do best in a home that can offer this. Agility is probably not his thing, he doesn't quite get fetch, let alone frisbee. At a minimum, he will need a home that is very active. Despite being a high-energy herding dog, Mickey does really well chilling at home too, and so far is not destructive at all. He has a wonderful personality and seems very adaptable to his environment. He also seems to do very well with cats (surprisingly, consider how much he tries to herd the other dogs). He has an initial fear of strangers but warms up fast. He's extremely loving to his people. We haven't seen him with small kids yet. Mickey is a blank slate ready for love and training and a much better life than the one he came from. He will reward you with many years of love and loyalty. He is an absolute sweetheart!!
