Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I’m a really lucky dog! I ended up with a foster mom who has a friend who ‘speaks’ dog. I don’t mean an animal behaviorist. I mean she could hear the words I was saying, understood them and then could tell them to my foster mom. You can’t even believe how excited I was when I met her. I didn’t know right away so I growled at her a little... cuz I’m an old coot. I’m not sure what that term means really but am hoping some of you do!
Any-who! I was just so excited and thankful that I almost made foster moms friend cry. Which in turn made my foster mom have to hold back tears. You see, no one has ever heard me before. So for 13 years I haven’t been heard. It was like I finally had a voice!
Well, I really wanted my FM to know about my past. And not just the part that my rescuer told her.
You see I was bought as a puppy by a really awesome man and woman. They didn’t have any children so I was their baby. They took me everywhere and loved on me like crazy. I was their everything! I never wanted for a thing and never knew anything but love.
But then one of my owners died and the other had to go into a home and couldn’t take care of me anymore. They really didn’t want to let me go but had no choice.
So I was taken in by another family and they had children. Those children weren’t very nice to me. I would go to my crate and they would antagonize me. Which I guess is why I growl and defend my crate when I go in it. It brings back bad memories of those children poking and pulling on me. They fed me food that wasn’t very good for me. I ate something called Alpo.
I’m not sure what happened but from there I ended up with the family I last lost due to financial hardship. They loved me but they weren’t my original mom and dad. I miss them so much. I would sit on the sofa with my first parents and watched Wheel of Fortune. My original mom and dad let me sleep in bed with them.
Over time I learned to be happy sleeping in my crate. After all, it was safe and I had a warm snuggly blanket. So when I ended up in Illinois at my foster home I was upgraded to a bathroom with a bed and blanket of my own.
But then one day, a week or so after settling in, foster mom gave me a special spot on HER bed where I could sleep at night with her. It made me soooo happy because I thought of my original mom and dad and I felt a little closer to them again. She said she needed to make sure I wasn’t going to sleep walk off the edge of the bed since I can’t see very well.
I’m so glad Dani came over to visit foster mom so I could tell my story. I wanted her to know where I came from and that I really LOVE sleeping on a human bed again.
I need to have a family that has no little kids and one that will love me with all of their being. I hope to sleep in their bed with them and eat food that will help me live longer.
For the meantime, I’m really, really happy here and would be happy to stay if I could. Maybe all I could ask for right now is to watch the Wheel of Fortune again.
