My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Roy! I am approximately 5 years old and 12 lbs. I came to the shelter when my owner could no longer care for me. I look a lot like a chihuahua but have an adorable curly little pug type tail.

I am a sweet boy, but I am very shy at first. I am seeking patient, dog savvy people who will give me time to come out of my shell. I am definitely a homebody - I am nervous in new situations and want to hide during car rides - so I won't be a "go everywhere with you" or dog park dog. I would do best in a quiet home with no children under 5. I seem fine with other dogs, and may benefit from being with a confident, smallish dog who could be my friend. I don't seem to mind cats, either. It doesn't take long for me to trust patient, kind people, and then I bond strongly (I'm already attaching to some staff members here).

I am up to date on my DAPP and rabies vaccines, and micro-chipped too. My adoption fee is $225 (+ $20 dog license, if residing within Jefferson County).

ADOPTION PROCEDURE: HSJC is currently CLOSED to the public. We are accepting applications for Roy. If you are interested in him, please submit one via our website here: https://hsjcwa.org/adopt-a-dog

We do not ship animals, and due to COVID and border issues cannot adopt to Canada at this time.

If we find an applicant who seems to match Roy well, we will contact you to schedule a time for you to meet him at our facility. If you have trouble submitting your application, please send an inquiry and we can email you one!
