My story

Meet Ms. Heidi! Heidi is a German Shepherd mix, estimated to be 2-3 years old, who is timid, gentle and kind. Upon arrival, Heidi was afraid and very timid….trembling in her kennel. She cowered and ducked each time we went to leash her or to pet her on the head. Fast forward a week and this beautiful girl is now enjoying her daily walks a little more every day. She’s adopted each of our caregivers, enjoys treats and loves a soft, gentle scratch behind the ears. This pet is accustomed to being an outdoor dog so a fenced in yard is strongly recommended as is someone able to give this pet the time and attention she deserves.

Sadly, this gentle soul is heartworm positive. She has already taken the first step towards months of chemotherapy-like treatment. However, we would very much like to get her into either a foster-to-adopt home environment OR a foster who could provided the time and attention that Heidi deserves over the coming months. Heidi’s medical expenses for heartworm treatment are covered by Godbey Creek Canine Rescue.
