Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Wren is estimated to be 5 years old; she is a very petite girl weighing an estimated 45lbs. Based on her Wisdom Panel DNA test she is 64% American Pit Bull Terrier, 14% American Staffordshire Terrier 3% Rottweiler and Boxer. Remaining % are low of other breeds.
Wren will be a foster to adopt until her medical is finalized. The goal is to get her in her forever home so she can settle into a life of love while finishing out the last portion of her medical, which is explained below. NOTE: Rescue is responsible for ALL cost associated with Wren until her adoption is finalized.
Wren is completely blind. She wasn’t born blind; she is blind due to abuse. One of her eyes were removed due to it protruding from her socket. She is still learning how to maneuver the world without sight. She is doing very well.
She had a left mandible non-displaced fracture and a left caudal mandible fracture. She also had 2 fractured premolars. During phase one of her dental work, all of this was corrected. She does require phase 2 which is the extraction of her right two canine teeth and some incisors. There should not be any long-term impacts from these injuries.
She had a heavy burden of HWs, which explains why we haven’t completed phase 2 of her dental work. She has completed HW treatment. However, she must test negative from HWs before she goes back under anesthesia for her remaining medical (spay and phase 2 of dental work)
As you can imagine Wren has had a very rough life. It is time for her to enjoy a life full of love, belly rubs and nose kisses. She is a special girl that will require a special home. A low-key home with not a lot of chaos.
Wren is very sweet and gentle. She gets along with both male and female dogs of all sizes. She has attempted to play with them but when they get rough it scares her and she tries to remove herself from the situation; she does not react. She would do well in a home with a dog that is low key but likes to play, but not overbearing. She loves kids but would do best in a home with 10+ due to her being blind.
She has not figured out what to do with toys, this will take time. She loves walks but they are very slow as she is still building her other scenes (and confidence) to accommodate for her being blind; however, she is amazing on the leash.
Being she is blind, she needs a home with a family that doesn’t move their furniture around often. Once she learns the layout of your home, she is golden. However, if you move the layout often it will confuse her. She needs consistence and routine to thrive and build confidence.
Wren is crate trained and she eats in her crate. I would encourage this to continue as she will growl at dogs who get around her food when she is eating. Again, she thrives on routine so free feeding will be unacceptable for Wren.
