Here's what the humans have to say about me:
AVAILABLE in Kennebunk Maine
Ziggie is a 5yr old spayed female Aussie with a beautiful coat and long tail.
Ziggie spent the first five years of her life in the home of an elderly couple, both of whom recently passed away. The fact that she is at least 15 pounds overweight makes one think she has been given food as affection instead of walks! She absolutely loves to be outdoors, and an ideal adopter would be someone who can take her on adventures. She looks forward to her daily walks and gets excited as soon as her leash is picked up. She must have been used to being in a car because she will hop in as soon as a door is open and is ready to go with you on your next adventure. She loves spending time with her person and will follow you around wherever you go. She does not enjoy being left home alone, so she would love it if someone was with her most of the time. That said, she is housebroken and will not wreck anything in the home.
Ziggie would like to be the only dog. She will resource guard her food and toys. She is not nice about it, so some additional training in this area is needed. Ziggie is around cats in her foster home too and she doesn’t give them a second thought (and no resource guarding with them either).
She has also been around kids in the past, but we do not recommend she go to a home with young kids (under 5), due to the resource guarding.
She is housetrained and very quiet unless someone walks by the house, but once she lets you know, she will quiet right down. She loves to chew non-rawhide bones but doesn't care for any soft dog toys.
Ziggie is looking forward to meeting her new family and sharing all the love she has to give.
If you think you are that family, please fill out our application!
All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
Note: Ziggie was rescued in OKlahoma and went on professional transpor to New England to find her furever home, so there is an additonal $150 fee for professional transport.
