My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rocky came to us from the city kill shelter where he was confiscated from his owner for running loose. His owner did not reclaim him and he was scheduled for euthanasia. Rocky is a handsome looking dog and we think he is a Terrier/Dachshund mix. He is learning leash training nicely and is ready to find his forever home. Rocky is a calm, quiet dog and is not a barker. He gets along with dogs his size. We feel Rocky would do best in a home as an only dog or with only one another dog, as he seems to prefer a non-chaotic environment. He is an observer and it has taken a couple of weeks for him to feel comfortable here at the rescue. He learned the doggie door very quickly and does not soil his crate at night. His best home will be with someone who can provide attention to him, take him on walks and just hang out with him. He'd be the perfect "Netflix and chill" companion rather than a "party at my house" type of guy. He would not enjoy going to a dog park or being in a group with a lot of dogs he isn't familiar with. He prefers to cuddle with his person on the couch or bed. That is his favorite way to spend the day. He also loves a car ride. Children are a bit too active and unpredictable for him and he doesn't care for that. He is a "small" medium sized dog, currently weighing 26 pounds. He has the cutest face with the most expressive eyebrows! Rocky has been fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped so he is ready to go!

Rocky's adoption fee is $650 (that includes GROUND transport from Houston, TX to the Hartford, CT area). Transport is arranged upon finalization of adoption paperwork. We can do virtual meet-and-greets with pre-approved adopters. Rocky is currently in his foster home in Sheridan, TX and will remain there until adopted.
