Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Koda is in Bellevue! He just started (12/4) a boarding with a trainer where he is learning so many things (see below)
***He does not have the energy of an Australian shepherd! and he isn't nippy:) I LOVE HIM (from his foster mom). He's so cute!!
Koda was rescued from a highway in Texas when he was around 6 weeks old. His "finder" kept him in her apartment until she decided to move and abandoned him. Unfortunately, he was not well socialized with other dogs and his trainer says that he's insecure. He curious about other dogs but doesn't trust them. He doesn't know dog signals. The trainer is working with him on basic obedience and he so wants to please. Koda is not a difficult dog and with continued exposure to the world his insecurity will improve. He's a great dog that would do best with a single person or couple who want to take their dog places and who are interested in continuing the training he's received. He's the total package!
We think that Koda looks like a Chinese Dragon Dog or a character in the Neverending Story. He's adorable! He loves people and being out and about. He used to get overly excited and unsure when seeing dogs across the street. With continued exposure, he's doing great now! Dogs that scurry and jump around make him nervous and still amp him up but with a confident leader, he does well walking around dogs. And he's getting better everyday. He had some balanced dog friends in his Texas foster home but the dogs in his WA foster home don't like him:( The picture with dogs is of him on a hike with his foster siblings. Koda may find a like-minded playmate, but we think he'd do best as an only dog. He's all about his people. He is more of a walk, hike, backpacking kind of guy vs. a dog park kind of dog. He had no experience with the outside world when he arrived in Washington. He barked at the windshield wipers, was surprised by falling leaves, hadn't seen a squirrel and didn't know that coffee shops give treats. He's stares in wonderment at the world around him and is becoming savvier every day. He will go to his forever home with a private training lesson so that all the things he's learned can be transferred to his new owner.
Koda is about a year and a half old and he weighs 50 lbs. He's energetic but not hyper. He'd like a family that will include him in their daily lives. He'd do best in a home with kids over 12 years. He would love to go on walks, hikes and visits to the beach. He wants to be with his family. HE LOVES CAR RIDES. He would love to run errands with you!
His adoption fee is $500 which covers his neuter, vaccinations, transport, training sessions and microchip.
