Gracie is a 2 or 3 year old Shih tzu mix. She came in as an owner surrender in Texas and was found to be Heartworm positive.
Gracie was a champ through her entire treatment and is now ready to find her forever family.
Gracie will need to remain on heartworm preventative for her life but she is an otherwise healthy dog.
Gracie is a very joyful, full of life and loving little girl. She is always smiling and always up for some fun. She loves being picked up and loves being snuggled and hugged. She loves kids and really anyone who will give her attention. She is working on housetraining as we believe in her last home they used pee pads and that is what she prefers. We have tried really hard to transition her to outdoors in her foster home and she has improved tremendously (as long as it doesn’t rain). I would expect some regression in her new home though and would make the pee pads available for her just in case.
Gracie is good with other dogs and likes to play. She will however let them know when she is finished and she expects them to listen. She met a cat briefly and didn’t seem to care about it either way so we don’t think it will be a problem. Gracie is okay in the car and doesn’t mind going but she is a little hyper and excited so we used a seat belt for her to keep her safe in the back seat. She is just now learning the leash as she was on crate rest for months but she is so eager to please that training has been very easy with her. She is very food motivated and will stand on her back legs and beg for treats, it's adorable!
We would like to say Gracie is crate trained but that is still a work in progress. To be honest she hates the crate. She will sleep in it all night without a peep but she barks a lot in it during the day regardless if you are home or not. We would prefer she does not go to an apartment due to her barking but otherwise would fit in just about any home.
If you want an adorable little dog who has tons of personality Gracie may be the one. She wants someone who has Time to spend with her, and tons of love to give her.
Gracie is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $450. Gracie will be arriving in Buffalo on October 16th but we are accepting applications for her now.
