My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Born ~2016, F, Calico Domestic Shorthair

I usually think that calicos are temperamental "I will if I want " kitties. This calico girl does not have that edgy attitude. Brilliantly colored Kyia is a good natured, happy lovebug. She is super playful and will chase catnip bubbles for as long as you want to make them. I notice almost all of my photos show her putting her head in someone's hand. She loves contact with humans. She likes to talk to you with her charming little voice. It is surprising how buoyant her personality is. If you love being in deeply-bonded companionship with a cat, Kyia is your girl. She is, of course, also a shoulder and lap cat and will undoubtedly sleep with you.

Kyia was surrendered to a shelter because her owner was ill. (I believe someone said Covid-19) Even in that distressing situation, her outgoing personality made her friends. She even looked wonderful in the shelter's photos. They reached out to us to see if we could take her into foster. Yes we said happily. I find these vivid calicos are like walking artworks, such a pleasure to watch. At six years old Kyia is athletic and healthy. The shelter noted she does have a middle grade heart murmur but it seems to have no effect on her happy, playful energy.

It is not only her dramatic colors that energize her, but it is also her own electric energy. She does curl up to sleep in a tight little ball in a basket, but when she is awake, she is a live wire. She would probably enjoy a family with children or a human with time to enjoy her companionship and blow catnip bubbles for her. I don't know how she is with dogs but I can imagine her being a good companion to a gentle dog after a slow introduction. She does NOT, however, want to share her humans with other cats in the home. She wants you all for herself. She is more than enough.

With her sweet voice greeting you, commenting about her breakfast and life in general, she will be a wonderful entertaining companion.

Kyia eats wet and dry food and anything with catnip and is litterbox perfect.

Kyia is spayed, vaccinated, FELV tested, dewormed, and microchipped.

She is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

If you believe you are the perfect adopter for Kyia please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com If you are unable to reach Harriet please email us at info@purebredsplus.org.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!
