Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Mildred!
Hello there, my name is Mildred, or as my foster mom loving calls me, Millie. I arrived at the shelter weighing just a mere 70 pounds at 8 years old. I'm a big girl, so 70 pounds is emaciated. I had to have a life saving surgery, and since recovering in my foster home I have gained 5 whole pounds! I eat 4 times a day right now, so I can relearn how to eat healthy and gain some much needed weight. I live with other dogs here, and I get along with them after proper introductions. I've been over bred, so I get a little grumbly with others at first, but I'm just trying to tell them I'm not all about that life anymore. Foster mom says I'm easily redirected and I listen well, and once I know the dogs I'm around are okay I'm a real good girl. I get along well with cats too. I think they are VERY interesting, so a skittish cat might not like me saying hello to them. I love my people, and would even be okay with older kids, you know the teenage kind.
Right now I go for a few short walks a day, just for a little excersize and to build up some of my muscle, and then I sleep the rest of the day, or just lay around relaxing. My peripheral vision isn't great. I can still see okay, but sometimes it's rough when I don't know someone is coming at me from the side. I sure hope my new family will always let me know they are there! Since I'm starting to feel better I'm showing a bit of personality by jumping around and playing a bit. I can't wait to show my new family my whole personality once I'm feeling 100%!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
