Meet the Pet
This helps RescuedOhio with pet care costs.
Meet Tori! She came to us in very bad shape with her whole body covered in infection and with nails so long we can’t imagine how she was walking on them. She was pretty skittish and didn’t like loud noises due to a lifetime of verbal abuse. Today, nearly a year later, we are still taking care of this sweet girl and trying to give her a great life. We always have at least a few dogs like this. Ones that may or may not be adoptable, but dogs that we’ve committed to. Sometimes they stay in the RO family as hospice fosters and we love them for as long as we possibly can, knowing that it’s very unlikely someone would be willing to adopt them.
We’ve had a lot of conversations with Tori’s vet since she arrived. She was diagnosed with liver disease shortly after joining us, and sometimes it takes a little while to gauge the severity. It was initially thought that Tori had just months to live, but here we are a year later! While this disease is incurable, she has been responding well to the meds, and her doctors have estimated that she has another 2-3 years left.
We know that no one is looking for an older dog with incurable liver disease, but we are hoping that someone out there is willing to love Tori for the time that she has left. The first 5 years of her life were pretty awful, and even if she only has a few left, we want them to be awesome. Tori doesn’t care for cats or other dogs, and we don’t think she’s meant for a home with children, but she would be a wonderful companion for someone who wants a dog that is already trained and just wants to be loved.
Tori's adoption fee is $195. Meet and greets can be arranged for approved applicants. Apply at www.rescuedohio.org.
