RESCUE ONLY DEADLINE 3pm 12/01/24 Due to the upcoming holiday closure on the 28th and 29th, we`ve extended the normal 5- day deadline. PACC will open as normal at 10 AM on November 30th. Name: Rambo Animal ID: A757528 Age: 5 years Weight: 80 lbs. About: Rambo is handsome 5-year-old American Bulldog mix who was a long stay resident at the shelter before being adopted in early 2023. His life has been marked with instability and he has found himself in and out of the shelter multiple times, often due to circumstances beyond his control.
Rambo was reportedly housebroken in his most recent home and was described as a couch potato who is affectionate with his trusted people and enjoys car rides. He’s a sensitive boy who needs time to warm up to new people, but once he does, you have a friend for life! Here’s what some of Rambo’s friends at the shelter have said about him:
“I just love this big ole blockhead! It takes a bit of time for him to warm up, but once he does, he loves pets and attention. He will make a wonderful companion for a home that appreciates a big strong dog.”
“Once he knows a person, Rambo is such a loving dog who is friendly and affectionate. Rambo has a sweet playful side, and he likes to run around in the play yard doing zoomies.”
`Rambo is a strong and sweet pup who loves toys. He`s very well-behaved in his kennel and loves squeaky toys- he can often be found squeaking away in his kennel!`
“Rambo is a soft-spoken stoic kind of guy. The more time I have spent with him the more I see little glimpses of the sweet boy inside. Sometimes he runs and jumps with a spark of play. I have been able to get him to run and do some zoomies, but it takes time to see this side of him. He needs a quiet patient home that will let him open up on his terms as he learns all the dog things he`s missed throughout his life.”
While Rambo is a gentle giant with all the potential in the world to be a loving and playful companion, he does have some behaviors that require understanding and patience. He has a history of resource guarding, so it`s important to manage his access to food and toys, especially around other dogs. Additionally, he has experienced a decline in the shelter due to stress, which has manifested as overstimulation causing a second bite to his record. It’s crucial to provide a safe and secure environment with lots of positive reinforcement for Rambo.
