My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they have been adopted. All of our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org

My name, Cole, is a homonym for another word that describes my color. Need another hint? The substance that describes my color is a combustible black sedimentary rock!! You are correct if you guessed "Coal"!!

Another guessing game question; What is the the most popular dog breed in the Western World? If you guessed Labrador Retriever, you are correct, again!!

I carry the genetics of this most popular dog breed!! And, I inherited the slightly goofy, friendly and outgoing personality of this breed, as well!!

My past is a little sad and tragic; my little friend( a female Pekingese named Carol Channing) and I were left tied to a stop sign out in the sun in Albuquerque, NM. A good Samaritan saw us waiting there and moved us into the shade and refilled our water. He asked a local shop owner about us and was told that we had been there most of the day!! He asked around the area, and no one knew anything about us. He untied us and took us home. With no microchips or tags, our original owner was untraceable. Hay Dude Rescue was contacted and a new life began for Carol and me!!

The vet says that I am around 7-8 years old and appear to be a purebred Labrador Retriever..not that it matters since I am neutered!! The vet also says my health is good except for some arthritis in my back legs which Foster Mum is treating with Dasuquin and pain meds. I suffered an injury to my trachea due to some type of blunt force injury but it doesn't slow me down...it makes my breathing a little loud sometimes when I get excited or over heated. I LOVE my walks around the ranch and going down to the river. I get into the water high enough to cover my knees, and, I lay down and stretch out on my tummy!!! Great way to cool off on a hot day!!

My favorite thing is being with my hooman. I enjoy our big yard and watching the horses, deer, and puppies frolic, but I LOVE being with my hoomans. I am a good inside dog and don't have accidents or tear up anything. I am quiet in the crate and sleep quietly through the night. I get along great with other dogs my size.

I weigh 65 pounds and am pretty solid for a man of "a certain age"!

If you have room in your heart and on your hearth for sweet, solid, AARP kinda doggie, I am your guy!!
