My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bee!

Hey there, I'm Bee and I'm about 6 years old and weigh just 24 pounds. Old enough to be potty trained, but not so old you have to carry me out to do my business. You can call me Miss Bee, Beautiful Bee, Bee the Beagle, you can even put a Bee costume on my for Halloween and take me trick or treating with the kiddos if you wish! That's right, I'm like a social butterfly, getting along with everyone I meet, young or old, but I'm Bee, not a butterfly. I even get along with other dogs and cats! I do well on a leash, and really like walks.

I'm pretty perfect in every way possible, but I do have dry eye that I have medicine for. I have the cutest little hound dog howl to let you know if someone is coming to the door, I love the fresh air and laying on the deck, and enjoy relaxing in a cool dark place if I'm not by you when I'm inside. I like to be near my person, but I don't need you to hold me. After being an independent hunting dog, and then discarded, I'm not a huge fan of being held. In fact, I very much behave as if I was abused by my previous owner. If you raise your hand to fast to pet me, or talk too loud around me, I cower as if I've been hit in the past. So, please have patience with me. My favorite time of day is meal time, of course! What hound dog do you know that doesn't like to eat? Now I need a family to call my own, that will never let me worry if I'm good enough for them! I sure hope I find that soon!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
