My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chief!

*Chief's adoption fee has been sponsored by Beanie and Bogey Christensen.

Oh, hi! I'm Chief. At 11 years old, and surrendered to the shelter neglected and in pretty poor shape, I've been told that this is my time to be loved for who I am! I was so matted they had to sedate me to shave my little 16 pound body. Why sedate me you ask? Well, because my hair was pulling so hard on my skin that once they shaved me I had sores! I'm so glad my foster mom will make sure my new family will never let that happen to me again! Because of this experience, I can get a little grumbly, so I should always be supervised when around children, and would do best in a home where I don't have to live with them. I do well with other dogs too! The little dog who doesn't see so well here at my foster home sometimes wanders into my bed and I let him lay with me. He's old like me and doesn't do much, so I understand him. I haven't met any cats yet, though.

I need to be on a special food for life because I have kidney disease. I've only had minimal accidents in my foster home, but foster mom says sometimes that happens with kidney disease and that someone will be able to see past it and love me anyway. I do go to foster mom and bother her when I need to go outside, so I just need a family who understands what I'm asking of them. Speaking of seeing, I'm blind in one eye, and I have chronic dry eye, so I have an ointment for my eyes for that and it makes them feel better! But listen, I will always want you to share your food with my old bumpy man self. I might only be able to see out of one eye, but my smaller works just fine! Foster mom isn't a good sharer. I don't know what is wrong with her! I sure hope she is right, and someone will love me! After all, I deserve love too, right?

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
