Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Major
breed: lab mix
Age: 12 ish

Child tested: No
Cat tested: No
Hello world, Major here, I may be an older gentleman but as the saying goes, it’s never too late to go home, so I’m hoping you can help me find mine.
Don’t let the 12 years fool you, I’m still a pup at heart. I am very spirited and enjoy playing with my toys, especially tennis balls. I love being at home with my favorite humans, getting spoiled with pets and cuddles. But let’s back up to those tennis balls because, honestly - has anyone ever told you how great those things are?!
I’m very sweet and I’m a good listener when I’m in the house. My foster family has learned that using treats and toys as rewards work really well for me !
I’m generally pretty good on my leash but am still working on getting comfortable when I see other dogs out on walks. I will need a confident handler who can continue working on my leash skills with me. When I first arrived at my foster home, I struggled quite a bit with seeing other dogs on walks. My foster family has been working really hard with me on balanced training techniques (we have been working on proper leash corrections, and also redirecting me on walks). This has been pretty successful so far and I’ll need someone who is comfortable continuing to work on this with me! I have had some positive interactions with dogs as well, I just need a proper introduction and a controlled environment. My people think I'd be ok with lower energy, relaxed dogs.
I also need new people to understand I like my space respected. I mean, you wouldn’t like it if I stuck my fingers in your face - would you? I’m a proper gentleman, and I appreciate people letting me warm up to them and approach them on my own terms. All this means is that I need an owner that stands up for me and let’s strangers know they need to respect my space. Once I am comfortable and settled in, I love attention from my humans. I also haven’t had a chance to meet tiny humans yet - but because I like my space, I think I’d really like a home with older children, and children who understand it’s important to respect my space! If they can do that, I think we’d get along okay!
I am house trained and I know the basic commands. I also don’t have any issue going in my crate when I’m told. I prefer the company of humans rather than being alone. I’m working on learning to enjoy my own company more with the help of my fosters, it will just take practice and patience. Lots of action makes me a bit nervous, and I think I’d prefer a quieter home with not a lot going on!
Overall I’m a good old boy, with simple needs; a comfortable home, and an owner that can help me with my training, stand up for my needs, and show me plenty of love. If you’ve got room in your heart for a sweet old codger, please apply to adopt me.
