My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTERED IN: Schererville, IN 46375
ESTIMATED DOB: 2010
COLOR/BREED: Black Shorthair
KIDS: Possible
DOGS: Unknown
CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Duke came from a shelter in Louisiana. His human caretakers passed away and him, his mother and multiple adult siblings found themselves homeless.

ABOUT:
Duke is a mature boy, around 11 years old. His foster home describes him as Docile, Cuddly, and Independent. He can be a little shy at times, but after he has been given some time to warm up he enjoys following people around and sitting on or near them. He loves head scratches in particular, but his foster has not identified any no-go zones as far as petting is concerned. If petting is involved, he is not picky. Duke is the kind of cat who will warm up to all his household members, but will likely have difficulty feeling confident with guests around.

Duke has a lovely independent streak that makes him perfect for homes who might work longer hours and have concerns that they might not be around enough for some cats. Duke has no problem filling his alone time, but will be fast to sit next to you and will sleep in bed with you when you are around. Duke does great with other cats and lived his whole life in a multiple cat household, but he isn’t needy and enjoys a good amount of alone time, so he would be appropriate for homes with or without other cats. We feel that Duke would do fine in homes with any children mature enough to understand he will need some time to warm up to them, and that he won’t be interested in meeting any of their friends. Although Duke is by no means a hyper guy, his foster did remark how energetic he is for a senior.
