UPDATED BIO 07/19/2010: Yoo-hoooo!? Are you out there FURever Mommy or Daddy? I'm being a good boy waiting for you to come find me. Can you just hurry it up a little, please? :) Morkie licks and wags! - Ricky xoxo
UPDATED BIO 06/20/2010: Hi there. My name is Ricky. I'm 3 years old and 7 lbs. I am a cute little guy who is waiting patiently for someone for my very own. I am a very good boy and really want to be adopted. Now that my foster fur-brother, Henry, is leaving soon, I am going to be all by myself. Do you have a home with another buddy for me to play with? If so, can I come live with you? I promise just 5 minutes and you will love me. You can read all about me below. Thank you!
UPDATED BIO 05/09/2010: Ricky here! Hey...... aren't I cute? and sweet? and fun? So why haven't you adopted me yet? Foster mom is getting WAY too attached to me. She just loves me to pieces... and so does everyone else I meet. Sure I have my quirks, but they're mainly about big dogs.... and let's face it, big dogs can be skeeery! I love small dogs and love to play, go for walks, and snuggle. Maybe you'd like to snuggle with me FURever? If so, let my foster mommy know, 'kay? I'm ready to go! xoxo - Ricky
UPDATED BIO 04/19/2010: Ricky is a sweet 3 year old 7 lb yorkie mix who is just a love. He is sweet, affectionate, loves to play fetch, and loves to go for walks. He's been in foster care for four months now. Besides not enjoying large dogs, he's a great little guy and would make a wonderful companion to a person with small dogs. As his FM, I wondered why he hasn't been adopted yet. However, when you look up and see the videos of him playing with UYR former foster pup Shelby and now poor sweet Henry, I think Ricky hadn't been adopted yet for a reason. I think he is playing a critical role in Henry's recovery by lifting his spirits. It's evident when you look at their faces that they're having a blast!
Please consider giving this wonderful little dog a new home and a lifetime of happiness. We're really hoping sweet Ricky goes to a home with another small dog(s) and where he can have a fenced in backyard in which to play fetch. Please email his FM with any questions. Thanks for looking!
UPDATED BIO 04/04/2010: My name is Ricky. I'm 3 years old and 7 lbs (yup, I'm back up to 7 lbs now that Rufus and Henry are here... gotta eat all my food so they don't get it first!) I keep asking my foster mommy why I still haven't found my FURever home. She says she doesn't know but that she thinks it's because my FURever family that is meant for me hasn't found me yet. She says that when the right family comes along, they'll know that I am meant for them. I trust foster mommy; so, I'm trying to be patient.
In the meantime, I am having a blast playing with Henry, my 3-legged foster fur-brother. We have so much fun. I'd REALLY like to go to a home with another playful little guy (or gal) like me. We just have so much fun. I LOVE to go for walks so that I can tinkle on everything I see (so I don't tinkle inside!)!! I like to play with squeakies too. One things iportant to know about me is that I do NOT like big dogs. We eventually learn to tolerate each other, but I really need to go to a home where there are no big dogs please. I am just a little too macho to let a big dog share my space (and love.... and toys.... and person..... and food) with me.
Well, if you think I might be the one for you, what are you waiting for? Please fill out an application. Then my foster mommy will contact you. Licks and wags! Love, Ricky
UPDATED BIO 03/06/2010: Hi everypuppy! My name is Ricky! I am 3 years old and weigh 6.5 lbs. My foster mommy let me use her computer so that I could tell you ALL about little ol' me. Well, I'm a Yorkie Mix who was rescued from a high-kill shelter. I had to have emergency surgery for a collection of blood in my ear. As a result, my ear will never stand up on the right. But that's OK right??
So, I told FM it was time for an update. I have been making LEAPS and BOUNDS in the potty-training department. I haven't had ANY accidents in 2 weeks!!! Well, one time mommy left me for a long time, and I couldn't hold it... but we won't count that. See how smart I am? I learned! Also, I was noot-ered and foster mommy says that helps too. (but I still say it's because I'm so smart!)
I am friendly and tolerate the neighborhood outside cats. One of them hangs out in the bushes and ambushes me when I walk by.... so I don't bother him. The other one walks up to me and isn't intimidated by me; so, I've learned to ignore her too. So, I guess if you had a cat that liked dogs, I might be ok.
Wanna hear some sad news? My foster-furgirlfriend Shelby was adopted last weekend. We used to play and play and play. Now I am so sad because she is gone. I wouldn't even look at foster mom for the first day or so. I weighed 7 lbs, but now I'm down to 6.5 lbs. FM says I'm at a healthy weight, though, so I guess it's OK. She also thinks I ate more because I was afraid Shelby was going to eat it. I'm feeling better now. FM told me she's going to save another furbaby ; so, I'm trying to be patient. I like doggies who are not much bigger than me. I really don't like big dogs (although my doggie trainer says it's because I lack self-confidence and am skeered of them. Don't tell anyone though. It's embarrassing.) I am working with a trainer to try and teach me how to be more confident. He's teaching me "sit", "stay," "look at me", and "leave it". I'm coming along :)
Anyway, I love to snuggle and want to know if you want to make me your FURever furbaby. I promise to love you FURever!!!!
UPDATED BIO 02/14/2010: I'm Ricky! I'm 3 years old and weigh 6.5 lbs. I just wanted everyone to know that I got noot-ered and my toofers are clean as a whistle! (I didn't lose any either!) I am no longer on any special medicine or any special food. I'm just waiting for my FURever mommy or daddy to find me here.
My FM wants to make sure you know that I do NOT like big dogs. I have short-dog syndrome. I do like smaller dogs and would love to have a FUR-buddy around my size to play with. :) I'm doing MUCH better in my house-training, but FM says I will continue to need training through the beginning of my adoption. All in all, I think I'm a FABULOUS doggy, and I'm hoping someone out there thinks so too! Adopt me please! Pretty please with sugar!
UPDATED BIO 1/30/2010: Hi there! Ricky here. I am 6.5 lbs and 3 years old. FM told me it was time I sent in a little update on myself, since I appear to have lots of adoring fans!! Well, it's been a month since I've been on my special food for the crystals I had in my urine.... GREAT NEWS! No more crystals! .... so no more prescription food. The Dogtor thinks I may have had a urinary tract infection before UYR took me in. Now it's all gone!! Also, I had to have my labwork rechecked after being on special liver medicine for a month. Those numbers are great too. Whew. So good to be off that stuff! So.... the next step for me is that I am going to have to be fixed (EEK!) and have my teeth cleaned (they're pretty icky) this week. I'm hoping I don't have to lose any.
My FM wants me to tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly about me. She says that it's the only way to make sure I go to the BESTEST home where I will never be homeless again! So, she said that:
1) I would NOT like to go to a home with big dogs. I don't like dogs much more than 10-12 lbs. I do play with my foster fur-sister, Shelby. She is 5 lbs. I never try to show any dominance to her, but I do so with big dogs....especially boys. FM says I have a little Napoleon complex, and I'm full of testosterone! (Not for long, though... gulp)
2) I am having some issues in the housetraining department. She says it's probably related to that testosterone thing. I am a leg-lifter. FM tries to correct me, and sometimes she puts belly bands on me. I just want her to know I'm the king, OK?
3) If you give me a bully stick or if I'm eating, sometimes I don't like it if you try to take my treat away or if you try to stick your hand in my bowl. Sometimes I don't care. I haven't shown any real aggression or anything, but FM can tell I don't like it, and she thinks it would be best if I don't go to a home with very young kids, OK?
So, that's me in a nutshell. I'm really sweet. I love to go for walks outside. I NEVER poo in the house. I am a sweetie-pie who LOVES to play fetch. I throw my toys in the air. It's so much fun! FM says it would be best if I went to a home where my new mommy or daddy has some experience in small dogs. Thanks for reading about me!! Licks and wags! - Love Ricky
UPDATED BIO 1/13/2010: Ricky here! I'm 3 years old and weigh 6.5 lbs. I am a fun-loving little boy who loves to play fetch, go for walks, and occasionally play with my foster sister, Shelby! I am super cute, even though I'm a Yorkie mix :). I;m so grateful to UYR for saving me from the shelter where I had a big hematoma on my ear that needed emergency surgery to fix. Now, my right ear doesn't stand up, and it may always hang down. FM thinks I'm cute like this. One ear up. One ear down!
So, I don't bark much. I am housetrained, but I do lift my leg now and then. I haven't been fixed yet; so, FM thinks that will all improve once I'm fixed. I don't know what being fixed is, but FM says it's a good thing. I need to have my teeth cleaned too. Right now, one of my bloodwork numbers is a little wacky; so, I"m getting some medicine for that. The Dogtor thinks it's not a big deal. Also, they think I had a urinary tract infection when I came into rescue and now I have some crystals in my urine. Because of that, I'm on special food (not expensive) for 3 more weeks. Then, I will have to be rechecked and will hopefully be off special food and ready for my new home by the end of February! Lucky me! I'm hoping my new FURever family will be ready and waiting for me!
ORIGINAL BIO 12/24/2009: Hi! My name is Ricky. I was rescued today from the shelter just in time to spend Christmas with my foster family! I'm 3 years old and weigh only 6.5 lbs. They say I was a stray, and that I was brought in by someone who claimed they found me wandering the streets all alone. Because of my condition on arrival to the shelter, my FM suspects that I may have been dropped off by someone (perhaps even my owner) who could not afford my care. See, I had a large hematoma (a big collection of blood under the skin) on my right ear that was likely the result of an untreated ear infection. It was painful and swollen, but I always behaved like a gentleman. I became an instant favorite at the shelter, and because the shelter staff believed I didn't have much of a chance at being adopted because of my ear, UYR stepped in. When my FM saw my picture and my red and painful ear, she knew she wanted to give me a home not just for one but for EVERY holiday!
Well, my FM made sure my ear was taken care of ASAP. Now I am stuck wearing the cone of shame (you'll get that joke if you saw the movie "Up") so that I can't scratch at my ear. (I really want to scratch it!) I am simply a lovable little boy who enjoys going for walks, loves other dogs, and loves to cuddle. In fact I like to sleep in bed next to you. I like to bark at kitties, and FM thinks it's best that I not go to a home with cats since I would likely chase them! I potty outside, but also use a wee wee pad. I've had a couple of accidents, but FM thinks it's just because I'm new here and a little nervous.
I'm looking for a family to call my very own. I still need to get neutered and have my teeth cleaned (they're pretty icky). Once that's done I'll be ready for my FURever home! Do you think I could have my new family by Valentine's Day? Will YOU be my Valentine?? Lots of love and kisses, Little Ricky.
