My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hazel is a gentle soul with a lively mind, who will become your best friend as soon as you meet her!

When she is not gazing at birds or the rain, Hazel loves to follow around her trusted human while making sweet chirping sounds. She is a lap cat, who loves to cuddle. She enjoys sleeping on her foster mom’s chest, and will often cuddle up with her foster mom while watching their favorite tv shows. When guests come to visit, Hazel is thrilled! She is a social being who loves people (but not other cats, thank you), and will warm up to new humans soon after she sniffs their hand and looks into their eyes. While she can be quiet around new people, Hazel will relate long stories to her main human through her many variations of chirps, meows and 'eows.

Hazel is also a brave kitty, who isn't scared easily by loud sounds as long as her space feels safe to her. She has an exuberant energy to her when she wants to play, and will pounce, jump and bunny kick her toys with gusto. Her favorite toy so far is the "cat dancer," because it makes her leap in the air and practice her jumps. Hazel also has a "bird" toy that she enjoys carrying around.

Not only does Hazel keep herself properly groomed, she even likes to groom her foster mom, by licking her ears and forehead when she is sleeping! Hazel's foster mom thinks that she would be happiest with a family or individuals who spend a lot of time at home, so she can get all the affection and attention she deserves. Her foster mom says, “Any human would be lucky to call Hazel ‘family’.” We think so too!

CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home.

At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.

Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
