Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Coal is approximately 5 months old, and was bailed out of a high kill shelter with his siblings. He and his siblings were " rescue only" as they were very frightened and did not do well in the shelter environment. He is now neutered and ready for his new home! We think Coal is maybe Lab and Border Collie mix...? maybe some German Shepherd in there….? He will be a big boy as you can see from his pictures. He now weighs about 35 pounds!
Coal is a very active boy with lots of energy and loves to play with his foster siblings. He can "chill" when needed and is not too destructive in the house, but like any puppy, he can and will get into mischief and is in the chewing stage at 5 months old. Very typical for a growing puppy. Coal Loves the water and likes to play in his kiddie pool, he needs a yard to play in so no apartments or condos etc. - a fenced yard is a must! He is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate all night without accidents. He is also paper trained and if left alone with no one to let him out he will use the paper or potty pads, but if you have a doggy door, he knows how to use it. Coal can be reserved and very afraid of strangers initially, and may take him a while to warm up to you, but once he knows you, is a very affectionate pup and loves attention. Because of this, we are looking for a quieter home with no small children please, and only people who have had herding dogs in the past and are dog savvy about socializing in a positive manner and not pushing him into meeting people. Coal is learning to walk on a leash but also will require more training in that area, being a puppy it is going to take time for him to be consistent with what he learns but he loves to please you, so enjoys the learning! Coal does require someone who is home a lot and not be an outside backyard dog. He would also do well with another dog to play with, we don't know how he is with cats or other animals tho. If you feel you might be a good match for Coal, please fill out our adoption application: https://www.aussierescuesocal.com/applications/adoption_v2/ - if we have your adopt app on file, just drop us an email: aussierescuesocal@gmail.com and let us know you are interested.
