My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MISSY
Female, Himalayan
DOB: 2017 estimated

I met Missy and her baby girl when they were brought into the shelter by Animal Control on
March 10, 2021. Momma and baby were found running around a neighborhood as strays.
Baby Mimi was still nursing. When Mimi was weaned, I decided to foster Missy since we were
overloaded with bunnies. Missy was shy but as time went on with me, she because a loving,
friendly bunny. She was spayed and had a hard time going through the procedure due to
improper care during the spay. But she is fine and healthy now. The vet and I believe she’s
about 4 years old weighing in at 7 pounds. Her breed is Himalayan, a breed known for being
docile which describes Missy. She is low keyed but has her fun moments. Her litter box habits
are fantastic and she is a very clean bunny. She does not like an unclean litter box. At my
home, it gets cleaned every day and sometimes twice. Missy eats her share of hay – many times
I fill her litter box twice a day with hay. She loves green leaf and Romaine lettuce, Italian and
curly parsley, spring mix without spinach and dandelion greens. She also loves Mazuri timothy
hay pellets. Missy gets very excited at meal time and play time in the evenings. She does
zoomies around the living room and then flops from exhaustion. Way too cute.!!!! She does
not like loud, startling noises therefore I believe would not do well in a house with small
children or lots of confusion and noise. She also does not like other animals in the house such
as dogs or cats. I live in a one-person quiet house and she seems very content in this
environment. She will allow you to pick her up but does not like to be carried around. Missy is
quite content to lay on the floor next to her human for hours to be petted. She will chatter her
teeth with joy for hours as she lays on the floor next to you. Missy is currently housed in a 5 x
5 foot exercise pen. Anything smaller would be uncomfortable for her. She plays with various
toys especially chew toys like bunny safe chewable rings, mats and balls.
She has been known to jump out of her x-pen or should I say "climb" over it. Therefore I do keep a sheet across the top and that keeps her content and in. She likes her freedom.
