My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 ADOPTIVE HOME NEEDED 🐾
Name: Batates (means 'potatoes' in Arabic)

Gender: male (neutered)
Breed: Belgian Malinois/Egyptian Baladi Dog/
Health status: fully vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, treated for parasites and healthy
Size: medium
Energy: medium

Rescue: Furry Family Animal Rescue
Foster home location: Toronto
Batates is a sweet natured boy, around 10 months old.
At a very young age he was found lying on a busy road in Cairo, unable to move. Cars were driving around him and people walked on a sidewalk, yet no one cared to see why this puppy is not being able to move. When rushed to the vet by an amazing rescuer, it was determined he had a broken leg, and was most likely hit by a car.
Thankfully, found by a person with compassion for animals, brought to the vet and afterwards transferred to one of the best boarding facilities in Cairo
He is being fostered in Toronto and we are looking for a home that’s just as amazing as Batates himself.
Batates is very intelligent, observant and focused dog. From early days of being in Canada he seemed to understand his duster dads commands, and when he was told to go in the crate, without any training whatsoever, he instinctively knew what was asked of him. Likewise, when asked if he wanted to go for a walk, he’d go to the front door, sit and wait for his foster dad to be ready to go out.
He loves following his duster dad around and just watch and observe, what he’s doing.
Batates is a very good natured boy. He is friendly with other dogs, cats and people. He loves human interaction has a great recall abs when allowed to run off leash, constantly comes back to make sure his foster dad is not too far behind him. He makes friends easily and loves nothing more than to be shown and told that he’s a good boy
Although we can only speculate that he is a mix with a Belgian Malinois (based in his looks, body composition, as well as behaviour and level of intelligence) unlike most Malis, he does have an 'off' switch and his foster dad considers him to be medium energy level. He loves going outside, running, playing and goofing around but when told to come inside, he settles in very nicely and is super calm.
He is crate trained and NOT a barker.
We are looking for a family living in the suburbs, with a fenced off yard, one that likes walks and adventures during the day, and cuddling on the couch in the evening.
Batates is neutered, vaccinated ( Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Corona Viral Enteritis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus Leptospirosis, Rabies), treated for worms and ticks, microchipped
He has had basic CBC blood panel drawn in Egypt to ensure there are no ‘hidden’ viruses and they are healthy
He has also been tested for tick- borne diseases ie. Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Babesiosis as well as for internal parasites, all with negative results.
The adoption fee is $1200.
