My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you. We have a cost effective transporter that has stops in most north eastern states. She runs every 2 weeks.

Please note! Don't just apply just because she has a cheap adopt fee. You must prove you can afford to adopt regardless! I find that most of the folks who apply for my reduced fee dogs back out when they realize they are still responsible for the transport fee. If this applies to you please don't waste our time!

Scarlett was born 2-1-21. Her mom was a german shepherd golden mix. We are not positive what dad was. Scarlett is active and very loving. She is good with people and ok with other dogs her size. She is too playful for small dogs. She needs a large dog only home. She is good with cats. She needs an active home with room to run. She would not do well in a cramped up apartment with no exercise. She is house trained and crate trained,

This baby will go home spayed and current on vaccinations, deworming, flea preventives, started on heartworm prevention and microchipped. This pup will receive a health certificate issued by our vet prior to going home. The adopter will get all his health records with the adoption.

We require a prescreen application to apply. You can get that on our main website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Additional adoption info

These adoption fees are for local adoptions. Local is defined as within 60 miles of Mt.Airy, NC. These fees do not apply for those dogs we have to ship to other states. Out of state northern adoptions have higher fees due to the vetting requirements being more expensive so the pet can travel legally across state lines.

Pups under 6 months old $275.00 ($50 will be refunded once the pet is altered)Any dog under 6 months old will not be altered prior to leaving. The adopter will be responsible for altering the pet by the time it turns 6 months old. We will refund $50 of your adoption fee once your pet is spayed or neutered. The fee will be refunded within 60 days of verifiable proof that the adopted pet has been altered. The surgery has to be done by 6 months of age or you will forfeit the refund! The pet will be current on all vaccinations, de-worming, current on flea prevention and micro-chipped and started on heart worm prevention. The adopter will get all the health records for the adopted pet. We also provide 1 free month of pet health insurance as well as a discount program that saves 25 percent on all vet visits. We also send the pet home with a free leash, collar or harness if we have them available!

Dogs over 6 months
The pet will be altered, current on shots, current on de-worming, current on heart worm testing and on heart prevention and microchipped. The adopter will get all the health records for the adopted pet. We also send the pet home with a free leash, collar or harness if we have those available!

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We DO NOT have a physical location where our adoptable pets are kept. The pets are in private foster homes. If you want to visit with a pet you must have a prior approved application. We will set up a time for you to meet the pet at the time and location of the person fostering the pet. We must respect the time, wishes and privacy of all our foster homes.

We have a transporter who delivers in the North East.

For shorter deliveries we offer transports for the cost of our gas.
