My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Newest update: March 2023

Don't tell Rory he is considered a senior citizen becaues then he will run circles around you. This sweet boy was a victim of changing circumstances and had to come back into rescue. He was re-homed with his canine sister and they couldn't get along so he's lucky to have landed with our friends at Kompletely K9 because they helped us figure out that he was in pain and reacting to the fact his ears were in terrible shape due to food allergies. Now that he's gotten on the right specialty food and a good medication regimen he is so much happier.

He will need a special family that can continue to support him with checkups and his food, but he returns that love ten-fold in his affection for his people!

He was listed as a Treeing Walker Coonhound but at 72 lbs he is closer to a St Bernard size and fluffiness! He is 9 years old and a sweet love of a boy! He does get car sick on bumpy back roads especially but when he takes a ride without eating first he does better.

In his former home he did not use a crate but was in a secure doggy-proof area, he is using a crate at this time and doing fine. He used to be a puller if he caught a scent or saw a distraction but he is doing well with his current tools and likes to go with a canine buddy.

Rory lived with children in the past but his size might make very small kids in danger of getting tipped over accidentally.

Rory is friendly with new people and curious about everything. He would be a fun guy to have around!

If you have interest in meeting Rory or another dog in our rescue, please fill out the adoption application.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where the dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout Maine. It is our expectation that a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
