My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bessie
When I first came to the HSHC in 2021, I was a four-week-old stray kitten. A month later, I was adopted and lived with my family for three years. But now I am `unwanted,` so I have to start again with a new owner. You can see from my baby picture that I was a cutie patootie. I am a playful 3-year-old girl; I love to climb or chase anything that moves; I love the laser pointer, and I`m an exceptionally affectionate kitty. It takes me a little time to learn to trust and love new people, but I am a sugarlump once I do. I like children and got along well with double-digit kids. Recently, the HSHC chose me to move to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC). Like always, I have taken my time to get to know the staff and other cats. Remember, I am a shy girl. I found one of those round doughnut cat beds that zip on top of a cabinet, and I love curling up there. But when the interviewer lady came in to see me, I climbed out and let her touch my paws. The staff say I am really, really shy, but I have a sweet disposition. Turn-offs include touching my belly (NO!) and dry cat food. Please consider coming to the SKCC to meet me! 11-18-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
