My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maverick is very smart and knows his commands: come, sit, down, stay, heel, place, and leave it. He is a confident boy and very playful, but needs structure and proper leadership. Maverick would make a great companion for an active dog owner. He's social with other dogs, but can be pushy, so he would do best as the only dog in the home or with a submissive female. He would thrive in a quiet active home with no children. Maverick is very food and toy motivated, and loves to learn new tricks! He had issues with resource guarding and impulse control, so any potential adopters must be willing to reinforce his training to ensure his next home is his forever home and set him up for success, and not failure.

Dog adoptions include a written application and an on site interview. All family members, including other resident dogs, must meet the new dog.

The adoption process for cats and kittens includes:
A detailed application.
An interview with the potential adopter(s).
And a home visit, in some circumstances.

To ensure the best possible match for our cats and kittens, all applications are reviewed by our adoption committee and determination can take up to 48 hours.

We are an all-volunteer, no-kill, non-profit animal shelter formed in 1986 to find homes for the dogs, cats lost within our city limits. We are a California non-profit 501-C3 corporation # 33-0192138 so all donations are tax-deductible.

We are always in need of volunteers and have many areas in which you can share your talents. Please attend one of our volunteer classes to get started.
