My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Luke is approximately 10-12 months old and weighs 42 lbs. He was a homeless guy on the Navajo reservation and wasn’t doing well. Luke is a lover, not a fighter, and is not equipped with the personality traits to fight other dogs over morsels of found food. A caring Navajo family took Luke under their wing until he could be picked up. Luke is the name given to him by this family.

Today, Luke is healthy, happy, playful, loving life, and ready for his family. He has been vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, fed really well, and has adjusted beautifully to family life.

About Luke:
• House trained and uses the doggy door.
• Walks like a champ on a leash, including on busy sidewalks.
• He’s naturally calm and relaxed. He’s at ease in busy and noisy places.
• Loves to go places, so he loads and unloads out of the car with ease.
• Gets along great with other dogs and loves to play with them.
• Loves hiking and playing in the river.
• Very smart and attentive to his people. Learns extremely fast and wants to please.
• Wants to be wherever you are, including laying next to you whenever possible.
• Enjoys retrieving his ball.
• Feels very secure in his home and with his family and has no interest in escaping or roaming if a gate is opened.
• He is not an aggressive eater and can be free-fed. He’ll only eat what he needs.

Luke’s requests:
• As a young guy who enjoys being active, he would also like an active family.
• He’d love to have pup brothers or sisters to have as pals and to play with.
• He would love a fenced yard so he can run around and continue to be the silly, young guy that he is.
• A family who wants to continue to work with him to be the best family member possible and be patient with him while he transitions to becoming an adult.

Interested families should email bigluckclub@gmail.com and describe how they would provide a great home for the rest of Luke’s life. The entire process entails completing an application, interviews by BLC as well as the Navajo family who initially took him in, reference checks, home check, and signing the adoption agreement.
