My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Project in Progress: Kobe is a stunning Blue Lynx Mitted Ragdoll kitten. He must go home under our companion cat policy which means he must go to a home where there is a young cat under the age of four or be adopted with another young cat or kitten under the age of four.

Kobe is still shy but better than before. We have discovered that he has a luxating patella. It means he’s always going to have a limp. There is nothing that the vet can do for him. The chances are he’s going to have arthritis in that leg as he ages and eventually some pain although it doesn’t hurt him now. We would send him home to the right home now as long as the adopters realize that he would need time to settle in and to feel comfortable and will always be a special needs kitty. No small children. No dogs. No noisy, busy homes. No exceptions.

We will be extremely picky about where Kobe goes. If you are interested in adopting him, please email us at merlinshoperagdollrescue@gmail.com For an application. He is currently being fostered in Ennis, Texas. His adoption fee is waived since we are unsure if his luxating patella is indeed inoperable or if it will require surgery eventually.

Sorry, we do not ship our cats or provide any transportation. All potential adopters should reside in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Louisiana. We will not adopt outside of those states. Who We Are: We are a private rescue and privately funded. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, BUT A RESCUE. A rescue is a PRIVATE HOME and not a public place to visit. Adopters must make appointments prior to visiting foster homes. All of our cats are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, wormed, de-fleaed, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Adoption Process: We require all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you call or email us, we will provide you with an application via email.

YOUNG CAT COMPANION POLICY: Unless otherwise indicated, all cats under the age of 3 must go into a home with another cat/kitten under the age of three or be adopted with a buddy. Ragdolls and Maine Coons are physically slow to mature, benefit greatly from the social interactions with another cat and often long for the companionship. Obviously, some young adults not raised around other cats or with more independent personalities may be exceptions to those rules, but that is up to the discretion of the Rescue to assess that need and is not negotiable. Special prices are made for buddy adoptions.
