My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nola (bonded to Bo)!

Meet bonded pair, Bo and Nola.

While bonded pairs are hard enough to adopt out - bonded pairs of senior pit bulls are even harder. However, we are determined to keep these amazing dogs together. It's not often that you find dogs truly bonded - but these two are indeed reliant on one another.

Their story is one of love - they have always been loved. They were part of a family and raised with children. They are kind and even-tempered. However, when tragedy struck, their lives were flipped upside down. Not long ago, the home they lived in caught fire when the fire from the neighbor’s home spread to theirs. Their owner was at work and they were trapped inside surrounded. Thankfully, someone was able to save them, but they were already digging at the drywall to get themselves free from the flames that were beginning to surround them. With this tragedy, their owner fell on hard times and sadly had to surrender them to a shelter. Please pass no judgement. We know this was very hard for her. When we heard their story, we pulled them and brought them to Wisconsin hoping to fulfil their mom's final wish to them - that they get another beloved family.

Nola is approximately 11-years-old and the maternal one of the two. She is always watching over Bo. She is a sweet compassionate girl and does not know a stranger in dogs or humans --- of any age. She just wants to meet you and say hello. She is fully housebroken and her foster family has said from day one, that with a little work on basic training, she would be the perfect therapy dog.

Sorry! No kitties for either.

Currently, both dogs are experiencing some separation anxiety but we fully believe this to be situational with the recent trauma they have experienced and all the abrupt changes to their lives recently. Their former owner has told us that for their entire lives, both dogs were home alone together during the day, uncrated, and without issue. We do believe that once they have a stable home again, this will subside.

While we know, at first glance, they are just a pair of plain brown pit bulls and are a dime a dozen - we assure you that both of these dogs are nothing short of EXCEPTIONAL!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
