Pearl - Chihuahua mix - Female - 8 Years - www.twyla.org
If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org
Meet Pearl: Ruby and Pearl were returned to us due to no fault of their own - or their owner, for that matter, the Owner became terminally ill and could no longer care for them, so they came back to us. Pearl is a Chihuahua/probably Italian Greyhound mix and is about 8 years old and sweet and active and cuddly. As they have spend practially all of their lives together, we assumed that they were a "bonded pair", but not a lot of families are able to take in two dogs at a time, so we decided to test if they are truly bonded: we placed Pearl into another foster home - one that she had stayed in before with people and dogs she was already familiar with and she is thriving! Pearl has not missed a beat integrating with her new pack, loves her people, no changes in appetite or behavior, so we think its safe to say they are not a bonded pair. She does seek out the company of her people and other dogs to play with.
Pearl is active and curious and quite friendly and outgoing, she loves to meet new people. Both Ruby and Pearl do well with other dogs after proper introduction, we have not observed them around cats though. They are house and crate trained and walk pretty well on leash, both are smart and learn quickly. Pearl is a little more confident than her sister, and likes to play with other dogs, Ruby tends to be a bit more snuggly.
We have only observed them around older kids, so a family with middle school kids or older would likely be fine. Both Pearl and Ruby are Houdini's! They are exceptional at spotting weak spots in your fencing and making an escape, so a very securely fenced in yard is required. Pearl is also pretty "slippery" at the door, so extra caution when opening the front door is necessary.
Pearl is looking for a moderately active home, preferably together with her sister, but at minimum with another dog of similar size for her to play with. Pearl can handle regular working hours, as long as she gets adequate attention around those time.
Pearl now has her own personal Amazon Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/37OCSENHYAX1C?ref_=wl_share
***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
