Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Rush!
Hello there, I’m Rush! My name is a bit of a misnomer because I am never in much of a Rush…except to give my people kisses or take a snooze on the couch. I’m a rather mellow fellow, and am an 85 pound, 8 year old pit bull mix.
I never have accidents in the house, and do great on car rides. Speaking of which, I have loved going places with my foster family. They’ve taken me to events at pet stores, garden centers, shelters, and I even went to an Admirals game! I am so happy just to be anywhere with my humans. Once I settle into my new home, I have a bit of stranger danger, so it's best I live in a very mellow home with not many visitors.
While I do fine in a crate, I can also be left out and about when my family’s not home. They just need to make sure to hide the garbage cans so I don’t go hunting for treasure! I am great with kids and dogs of all sizes, but prefer companions that are easygoing and chill like me. Too much hyper energy stresses me out. I like kitties a little too much, so would do best in a home without them.
I have come a really long way on my health journey since coming into rescue, and now I take a couple of medications regularly to help with my thyroid and allergies (I scarf these down eagerly in a pill pocket!) My hobbies include hanging out in the yard, going on walks, and chewing on bones.
But my number one, all-time favorite hobby is being with my humans…I just love to snuggle in bed and on the couch with them. In fact, I love my humans so much I can act protectively over them when strangers come to the house. I would have the greatest success with a family that has prior experience with my breed. If that sounds like you, and if you love to snuggle, I would love to be part of your family!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
