Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kenai is the sweetest boy! We rescued him from the highway in the middle of the night where he was nearly hit by multiple vehicles. Unfortunately, he was not claimed nor microchipped, but good news is he is now ready for his forever home!
He gets along with everyone: dogs, cats, horses, desert tortoise, etc. He is just a big lovable guy and loves everyone! He is a goofball and is still a youngster, so he just loves to play!
He does need some work on a few behavioral problems that seem to have arisen from his prior household, such as food possessiveness, fear of the hose and pulling his collar. He has gotten much better, but he will need extra attention and training from a STRONG handler to help him overcome his fears and inappropriate behaviors. This guy needs an experienced owner! The potential adopter should provide the appropriate area for him to have his own food without competition from other dogs. As with all our foster dogs, we highly recommend professional training.
Adopters should understand the needs of this dog breed. They are heat sensitive and do better with cooler temperatures. With temperatures over 90 degrees, he should definitely be able to come inside. These guys do drool and they shed. They have a very thick undercoat, so regular grooming is necessary. Additionally, a large FULLY FENCED yard is incredibly important as they will roam. With any puppy, he does chew on things and should be provided plenty of outlets to chew and play to prevent boredom. Gigantic bones are highly recommended!
He is neutered and vaccinated. Records to be provided. We request an adoption donation of $150 to help cover these costs.
If you have any questions about Kenai or are interested in adopting him, please let us know! We're looking forward to having him meet his new forever family!
