My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spotlight on Bocage: The Spirited Senior with a Heart Full of Love! ????

Meet Bocage, our charming nine-year-old who's redefining what it means to be a senior pup! Rescued from the streets over a year ago by a compassionate soul, Bocage has shown that age is just a number. This spirited girl may have a few years under her belt, but she's brimming with vitality and enthusiasm.

Bocage is the perfect companion for those who want the joy of a playful and active dog without the demands of puppy training. Her hound-like traits are evident in her love for sniffing out new scents and her vocal nature-walking with her nose to the ground is her absolute favorite pastime. Despite her senior status, she's still got plenty of energy and a zest for life that will keep you on your toes!

Beyond her adventurous spirit, Bocage is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She adores swimming and is fantastic with other dogs, making her a versatile addition to any home. If you're looking for a loving, active companion who has a lot of life left to live, Bocage is ready to bring joy and excitement into your world.

Come meet Bocage at our shelter and see for yourself how this lovable senior is sure to capture your heart and bring endless happiness to your life. ????

More about this shelter

Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.

What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.

Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.

Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.

Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.

Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
