Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Tito-TX
*INQUIRIES SENT THROUGH PETFINDER WILL NOT BE ANSWERED AS WE DO NOT HAVE THE MANPOWER TO RESPOND TO THEM. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION INSTEAD*
Meet Terrific Tito-TX, an amazing 2.5 year old male Aussiedoodle who is in an IDOG foster home near Houston, TX.
*Please read ALL the information in his listing before applying for him to ensure you understand what he needs to be successful in his new home. If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Tito, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL in to your browser).
*We will review your application and let you know if you made our short list of applicants for him. We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs - your understanding is appreciated.
*We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for - we do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. Our adoption process may take 2-4 weeks.
*You must be approved to adopt Tito before we will schedule a meet and greet with him. We do not transport our dogs. We expect approved adopters to visit him in his foster home within a short period of time of being approved to adopt him. Our adoption process involves vet and personal reference checks, phone interviews, a home visit, an adoption contract and an adoption fee.
*AGE: 2 years 5 months (born March 2019)
*WEIGHT: 65 pounds
*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is required. No electronic collars or invisible fences are allowed as we don’t think these would set him up for success.
*COAT TYPE: He has a curly low-shedding coat. His new family should be prepared to brush his coat regularly to prevent matting and for the expense of having him groomed approximately every 6-8 weeks ($100+).
*ENERGY LEVEL: High. He is very playful but is also good at down time and chewing on bones independently.
*DOGS: Gets along great with his foster dog siblings who are of similar size.
*CATS: No known exposure to cats.
*KIDS: 10+. Due to his playful and herding nature, he tends to jump and be mouthy. He is an Aussiedoodle and Australian Shepherds were bred for herding…he has herding tendencies and will grab shorts and nip to get children to get them to go where he wants them. He is very sweet just herding. This is to set Tito up for success.
*CRATE: Tell him "kennel" and he goes straight in with no complaints! He is crated when his family isn’t home up to 3 hours a day. Any longer than that, he isn’t happy and would much rather be out of the crate with his family.
*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes!
*LEASH: He does well on leash but tends to bark at other leashed dogs.
*APARTMENT/SHARED WALL HOME: Tito would not do well in a home with shared walls and he does alert bark when he hears noises.
Meet Terrific Tito! Tito is a gorgeous male 2.5 year old Aussiedoodle in a foster home in the Houston, TX area. He was surrendered to IDOG when his family wanted him to get more attention and exercise than they were able to provide. Due to their long work hours they felt he wasn’t getting enough exercise and wanted him to be with a family who could give him more attention.
Tito has a gorgeous coat and a nubby tail and would do best with an active family who can provide him with enough exercise and mental stimulation to keep him content. He needs someone who is patient, loving, and will tolerate having a constant shadow. He would love to sit at your feet while you work from home and take play breaks during the day! He would be unhappy and nervous being left alone all day.
Tito spends hours playing with one of the dogs in his foster home. He enjoys going on walks. His previous owner used to take him for runs which he would definitely love getting back to!
Tito loves to play and would benefit from having a dog sibling to help with his energy, but he loves his people and looks to them for reassurance so we do not feel this is a requirement. If there is another dog in the home, it should be able to tolerate his energy level.
Tito sleeps happily in the crate at night. During the day he does best when his humans are home as he is comforted by their presence. He would not enjoy being crated during the day more than 3 hours and would much rather his humans be home to keep him company and give him attention. He has never been left alone unattended without being crated.
Tito needs to be able to see his family. He is very attached to his foster mom and wants to be next to her all the time like Velcro. He would do well with a family who is home often. For the first few days in his foster home he panted heavily, but with time and reassurance this has diminished some.
Tito loves toys! He is enjoying getting all the toys out of the basket at his foster home. He loves to play in the backyard with his foster siblings and will participate in a short game of fetch with a squeaky ball. Tito is very affectionate and loves to sit at his foster mom's feet. He always makes himself available for attention and petting. He loves to learn against you when he's getting his back scratched.
Tito is such a happy dog! He is friendly to everyone he meets. He is just as happy playing as he is getting love and affection. He loves romping with other dogs and is good at reading the body language of his doggie siblings. He is smart and has picked up on the routine and cues of his current foster family. He can't wait to have a family who is able to give him all the exercise and attention he deserves.
Tito has a big bark! He will bark if he hears something suspicious or outdoors but is generally responsive to a word of correction. He will also start to bark at you for attention if you are talking to him but aren't petting him! He tends to beg for food but sits politely and is not a nuisance. Tito has shown interest in smells in the backyard and could get started digging if given the chance.
Tito is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, crate and house trained. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm/flea and tick preventives.
ADOPTION FEE $400
OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. The following is a general guide, but each dog is assessed individually. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs or are heartworm positive.
To apply for Tito, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste the link in your web browser).
