My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Free Hugs!  I’m Charlie and my foster mom says I’m the bestest hugger, whether you want one or not. But who doesn’t need some of those, these days?!

I’m a 5 yr. old, 37# red tri border collie looking for a hug partner for the rest of my life.  One time, someone not as nice as you threw me out of a truck.  I’ve had to have one of my front legs removed, but I don’t even care and I can still run faster than you!  I love to go on walks and jogs, and really love exploring in the woods.  I’m up for any adventure you can think of, and already have experience hiking, jogging and paddle boarding.  I’m also a champion couch snuggler.  And recliner snuggler.  And bed snuggler.  My nickname is LoveBug…you get the picture.

I’m a typical border collie…you know how we have our opinions on how things should be sometimes.  My new family should have some understanding of how us herding breed dogs think.  I know basic commands, walk well on a leash, and am house and crate trained.  I’m very much in tune to my humans, and though I don’t have separation anxiety, I really prefer that my new owners work part time, or from home, or are retired so we can spend as much time together as we want.  I need a fenced yard in my new home (no apartments), so I can safely run and play and so I don’t get distracted by a squirrel that needs to be chased.  I also do better in a quieter environment.  I get nervous in hectic environments with a lot of people coming and going.  A boy has got to have his couch time, you know.

I live with 3 other dogs in my foster home.  I like to give them nose bops so any dog in my new home will have to be ok with that.  It will be important for me to meet any other dog in my new home.  I’d also be just as happy (maybe more happy) as an only dog. Cats are so cute, don’t you think?  I love cats and would be happy living with cats.  Kiddos make me nervous and sometimes scared, so no little ones for me, please.

I’m neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly preventatives.

I’ve been waiting a long time for my perfect family.  I had this photo shoot so you can see how handsome I am, and I hope you’ll want to meet me.  If you think we could be the best forever friends, please fill out an application.

Charlie is being fostered in the St. Louis, Mo area.
