My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*If you're interested in adopting Charlo please fill out an adoption application on our website: roversretreat.org*

Charlo is a stunning 4-year-old Golden Retriever that weighs 65 pounds. This sweet boy has a very calm disposition at home and loves to lie down by his person's feet. He also loves going for walks and gets very excited - he does pull on the leash and reacts when seeing other dogs so he will benefit from some basic obedience training with his future owner.

Charlo lives in a foster home with a few other dogs, of both small and large-size and gets along well with all of them. He has not shown any interest playing with his doggie friends but doesn't mind hanging out with them. In his future home he will be perfectly fine as an only dog or will be ok with other calm dogs.

He is housebroken in his foster home and also crate-trained. He has been left alone while his foster mom went on errands and he does great - he is not destructive and  doesn't try to  jump fences.

Charlo loves going for car rides and does really well in the car.
He absolutely loves giving his paw, right and left, and he pretty much can do this all day. Also, he is a big believer in belly rubs… When you wake up in the morning he will roll over and make sure he gets his morning belly rub, doing this numerous times during the day.

He did pretty well at the groomer and he didn't cause any issues at the Vet office. He did well during his cat test  and with some work he will probably be ok living with cats.

He is an alert dog, meaning if he hears someone outside he will growl and bark and might become protective with strangers coming to your home. His future owner needs to be aware of this and make proper introductions when friends arrive, otherwise he might snap.

In his foster home he has been living with the husband and wife and has been wonderful with them both. At the beginning we highly recommend that all family members spend time together with him so he doesn't become protective of one of the household members.

Ideal home for Charlo:
Adult home
House with a yard
Owner needs to be aware and ok with a protective dog.

Charlo's previous owner was a male and sadly became an angel due to terminal illness - they were very bonded. The owner's mother took him and tried to take care of him but she is an older lady so she had a hard time giving him good care, so she looked for a rescue to find him a wonderful home.
Charlo came all the way from Istanbul, Turkey to find a wonderful home here in the US.
This sweet boy has been through a lot, so we will make sure he goes to the best possible home.

If you think you can provide Charlo with a loving home please fill out an adoption application on our website: roversretreat.org

PLEASE NOTE: Charlo is being fostered in West Hollywood, and his adoption fee is $1,000
