My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petey

Gender: Male
Weight: 46lbs
Age: Young maybe 1ish
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Heartworm: Negative

Breed: Cuteness, Take a guess Boxer/Boston Terrier/Little Pittie/Waterdog we have no clue, your guess is as good as ours. He can be whatever you want him to be.

Foster Location: Oswego,IL. No out of state applicants, please.

Potty trained: Yes. He is crated when the humans are not home though.

Crate trained: Yes, he should not be crated for more than 5-6 hours a day. Petey is young and has energy, it is in his best interest to not be crated longer than that or it will create unwanted behaviors.

Dog Friendly: Is too friendly a thing? He can’t get enough of his 1 year old foster sister. They play all day everyday, they love playfully gnawing on each other, it’s gross and cute all at the same time. His 4 year old foster sister finds him super intrusive, obnoxious, and annoying. She can’t wait to get rid of him!!! He mostly takes her cues and just stays away. She has an evil side eye on him at all times.

If you have an energetic dog that loves to play all day everyday, he/she would probably love Petey. He comes off strong. If your dog is dog selective to begin with or not super into playing, they’d probably hate Petey with a passion. He loves everyone! We have not tested him with small dogs, but assuming he would love them too, but again, we haven’t tried so don’t know for sure.

Cat Friendly: Not sure, I know he would probably love to chase one, not sure if he would eat one or not.

Kid Friendly: Yes! He loves snuggling with our kids! He loves to kiss their faces. He loves everything about them! He is a bulldozer though so kids could get knocked over. He also loves to steal stuffed animals. It’s been a great natural consequence when my kids don’t pick up. Don’t look at it as a con, it’s definitely a pro!!! The house has never been cleaner!

A little more about Petey:

Petey is awesome! He is a super lovable, clumsy goof! He reminds us of a Boxer or Boston personality, they’re just goofy breeds! He has a good amount of energy, but is zonked out after a 15-20 minute walk. He is young and like all young pups/dogs will need to be exercised daily, either running around with another pup or a walk or two each day.

He needs to learn some manners, but he has made huge improvements in the couple weeks that he has been here. He is super treat motivated. He will do just about anything you want him to, for a treat.

Petey was mouthy like a puppy when he first came here and now he barely does it.

Petey will pick up shoes or fun looking items off of the floor. We are able to trade him for a treat or fun toy (trading is for safety and the dogs really don’t see it as anything being taken away, they’re getting something else they want so the first thing isn’t that important anymore). We keep our house pretty picked up so hasn’t been a problem, just an occasional redirection.

He loves adventures, but also loves to snuggle on the sofa or lay by your feet. He is absolutely adored in our home. If our older dog liked him more, he would be a foster failure. We’ve all grown quite fond of this goofball.
