Drake is one sad boy. He was sitting in his kennel shaking with the slip lead loose around his body. We aren’t sure how long he had been frozen like this but one more minute was too long. We went slow with our approach and gave Drake time to feel comfortable leashing. It wasn’t instant but he was nervous. Once the leash was on he pancaked a few times on the way outside. He definitely didn’t know which way was up and his confusion showed all over his face.
Drake tried to jump his way to freedom but didn’t quite have the strength to clear the very tall fence so he stood holding on to it and looking for his people. We gave him space and tried distract him with treats that he wasn’t interested in. It wasn’t till we got to the tennis balls that we saw a spark of youngster in him. It took a few tosses to convince him it was ok to have fun but we got there. Drake will need some time to adjust to shelter life before we see all of his personality. Hopefully his stay will be short and a new home comes his way.
