Baxter is a dapper Southern boy in search of his furever home. As you would expect, this Southern fella has good manners and is a true pleasure to have around.

Baxter prefers to meet new people or animals *s-l-o-w-l-y* because his vision is a bit limited from cataracts & dry eye. Unfortunately, Baxter also tested heartworm positive and is receiving treatment, so an adopter committed to continuing this therapy (rescue provides the meds) is a must.

Once he meets them, Baxter enjoys being with people and small dogs... just no big dogs please. He loves his meals, his naps, and an occasional chew on a chew toy or hoof. Baxter is 100% housetrained -- never an accident in the house !!

Baxter would prefer an all adult home -- a retired couple would suit him just fine. He doesn't need dog buddies or a fenced yard. He is fine walking on a leash and loves the companionship of his hoomans, indoors or out. Baxter is crate trained but much prefers to sit on the sofa or big bed next to his favorite person.

If you think BAXTER is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today!

BAXTER is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore.

An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption

Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit.

PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!
