Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Here’s My Story
Hi my name is Robbie, and i’m a 19 month Corso X. I was found wandering confused, alone and very very hungry by this nice gentlemen who probably saved my life by bringing me to a shelter in Nov 2020. I can barely see and when this nice man found me i was very hungry you could see my ribs i had been without food for a long time.
On Christmas Eve these nice people came to the shelter to pick me up. The nice lady at the shelter told me to be a good boy that she will miss me but these nice people will now be my foster family and will help me.I had no idea what that meant but everyone seemed so happy which made me happy too.
I have now been with my foster family for just over 7months and im learning new things everyday, but i still bump into things once in a while. After a few appointments the eye specialist says i wont be able to regain my sight. I do have cataracts but my retina is damaged beyond repair.
Im young and i get excited and reactive to meet people and dogs on walks and sometimes I pull too hard and bark and lunge.i have bern working so hard with a nice lady they call a trainer and practicing with my foster family., i still need practice with this and will need someone who is experienced with a strong dog like me and who will continue to work on all my training. All i know is that i LOVE treats and if I’m a good boy during my training i always get some, so I try extra hard.
Im a bit picky though, and i need a very specific home. My perfect home will not be in a city, condo or in a busy area with lots of stimulation. This is to much for me to handle so the less busy the better because all these places have unpredictable sounds and can be very scary.
I absolutely need a very calm and STRUCTURED home. An adult and cat free home with ROUTINE is an absolute must. I am such a good boy in the house and am very cuddly with all the people that i know. I need a family that will commit to me and my ongoing training and ideally who have experience with a blind dog would be extra special bonus . Although moost of the time you would never know that i am blind! My family should also be experienced in handling power breed puppies/dogs, and be a confident leader, understand my exercise needs and have the commitment to follow through with my training. My trainer will help my family for 2-3 lessons after I am adopted!
At this time with my eye issues id really prefer an ADULT only home because i could accidentally hurt a child or get very nervous and confused around excited energy. Calm Energy is a key factor because i am relying on all of my other senses.
Right now i have been able to meet and learn to walk with my trainers dog Riggs. I am still learning that it is ok to be calm around another dog ( still practicing) but i think im getting it. Im really hoping to find my furever family soon.
