Eloise is a 2 year old chihuahua and Just 5 lbs. She came into rescue with heartworms and a huge Texas attitude. She has since been treated and will need to be on preventative for her lifetime.
Eloise is a petite little girl with a quirky personality. If you are familiar with the chi attitude you will understand completely. Eloise loves people on her terms. She has come so far in rescue and has expanded her love from not only her person but to anyone who comes and visits. If they come and sit on her couch Eloise will crawl in their lap like they are their new best friend. However, she does not like to be disturbed while in her crate or sleeping or eating and will have no issues nipping to let you know. Due to this behavior we will not be placing her with kids.
Eloise is fearful of other dogs. She is fostered with many of them And has no issues once she gets to know them as long as they respect her space. If a high energy dog comes at her she does snarl and snap. She would do best in a home with low key dogs. She has not met a cat that we are aware of but We imagine the same rules would apply.
Eloise is 100 percent housebroken with a fenced in yard. We would prefer that for her new home and she is also crate trained. Although she only uses a crate for eating we do leave an open one available to her should she want it. She will go to the door and dance when she needs to go outside - sometimes she will run back and forth between you and the door to make sure you know she has to go.
We have worked with Eloise a little bit on the leash and she follows but isn’t really sure of what to do. We do recommend if you should decide to walk her to make sure she has bonded with you first as this is a source of fear for her.
Eloise’s favorite thing to do is sleep on the back of the couch. She has a bed pillow covered in her favorite blanket and sleeps the day away. She also loves to sleep in bed at night snuggled up against you under the covers.
Eloise does like to play a little bit. It appears someone used their hands to play with her and that’s what she is used to. It takes a little while to tell the difference from her playing and not playing as she growls, snarls and bites your hands during play as well. Her play time is short spurts and then she’s back to lap time.
We also noticed Eloise’s nails grow very long, very fast and she will need them trimmed quite often. More then the average dog. She is nervous but does allow them to be cut. If not kept trimmed they curl and get caught on things causing injuries to her.
Although Eloise has her quirks she is a wonderful little dog. We know her home is out there and can’t wait for her to find it. She is a sweet little girl with a lot of love to give. She wants nothing more then a quiet home and warm lap to lay on.
Eloise is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $400
