Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Available in Chicago, IL
Hi, my name is Ruby Jane, I'm a 4 year old female red merle Australian Shepherd. I have been in my foster home for several months. I have been working on all kinds of skills - hearing new sounds, seeing new people and even meeting strangers. I have a tendency to bark when I am scared. Bark, bark, bark! Although I am not aggressive, I need proper introductions to things that are unfamiliar to me so I will definitely need a family that is patient and helps remind me that everything is okay and I am safe.
I am good for my leash walks but am just as happy to be back inside with my humans, snuggling on the couch. I would prefer a fenced yard to play and a quieter, more relaxed environment. I have done great meeting the neighbor kids that live near my foster mom. I’ve even met a few of her friends recently without barking. I mostly still don’t like loud motorcycles, bicycles and runners. They make me bark a lot!
I am fully house trained, and in fact, I don’t need a crate when I’m left alone in the house. I have good house manners.
I LOVE belly rubs and I'm a pretty chill girl. My foster mom says I’m a pretty good girl until I get nervous about something. I am definitely a “work in progress”, as she says.
I am spayed and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I have a microchip and am heartworm negative. I take monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Monthly preventatives are a requirement to adopt me!
I am being fostered in Chicago, IL.
