My name is Lassie and I’m about 8 years old and weigh 8 pounds. I came to the shelter as a stray and was pregnant with my two puppies. They have both been adopted, but I’m still waiting for my furever home.
I’m a shy girl. I don’t like to be picked up, cuddled or get kisses, but I’ve gotten much better. I freeze when foster mom picks me up, but now I relax and will sit in her lap for hours. I’m always so happy to see her when she comes home. I smile and wag my tail and go close to her to say hi. Foster mom and I play “touch.” She says “touch” and I touch her finger with my nose or get a treat. I like playing touch!
No one knows why I don’t like to be picked up. I could have been dropped or something in my life before the rescue, maybe that’s how I broke my leg, but I can’t tell anyone. I just need a family with patience who will work with me and gain my trust. I get along with my foster brothers and sisters both big and small. I’m leash and kennel trained, house broken, and I know how to use the dog door.
I do have an occasional focal seizure. I’m still aware, but my body shakes and twists. I only have one or two a month and the vet said they aren’t severe enough or frequent enough to be on medication for them. When I have had them, foster mom just holds me and talks to me calmly. The Vet also said my heart murmur is so low grade, a 1 out of 6, that I don’t need to be on medication for that either.
Foster mom told me she will be picky when finding my home because I deserve to be a spoiled girl and she wants to find me the exact right furever home for me.
