My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Dasher is the lucky recipient of a grant from one of our supporters that has donated toward his adoption fee. Thank you for considering this little nugget!

Oh my gosh. Peek this dashing little fella. At 12 years young this babe of a boy is just waiting to find his perfect family. Is it you? With paws crossed, he tucks into bed every night with his amazing foster family that tell us he's absolute ginger perfection! The love! The cuddles! The tail wags like windshield wipers on the rainiest day. He loves affection and attention, craves it. Is absolutely delighted by it. He looks at you with his eyes wide in wonder...."This? For me?" Such gratitude, in that sweet face, it'll make your heart swell with the pure innocence of his appreciation. It's as though he felt like he never deserved anything better. Up until his intake with DREAM he solely knew life as an OUTDOOR dog. So sad. Hot summers and cold winters, separation from the family and it wasn't actually the safest of situations for this kind soul. So, we're doing what we do every time. We're meeting him where he is. Housetraining is coming along. He responds well to positive reinforcement when he does his business outdoors. Indoors...well there's a fix for that and it's a belly band. He does not mind it at all and does great indoors with it when he does have an "accident". The noises of everyday living inside a home (doorbell, dishwasher, TV and the like) don't seem to bother him at all. Dasher is great with people which is ironic, no? Other dogs are his friends, and he'd be fine with kids who know how to treat dachshunds properly. Want to be gazed to like the hero you are for adopting? Fill out an app on our website.

If you are interested in adopting Dasher, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Dasher's adoption fee is $200.00. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. All of our dogs will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and all other medical needs addressed. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
