WEIGHT: ~40lbs.
Cue the tears because this girl has been in `the system` for over two years now! Missy is an amazing dog who deserves a wonderful home and will make the right person/people an incredibly fun and devoted companion. That said, she does have certain characteristics that may not fit everyone. No one is everyone`s cup of tea right? So, please read the full bio to see if Missy could be the dog for you!
Missy spent over a year with a foster family and this has helped us learn how she truly behaves in a home! According to her previous foster, she`s a canine comedian who will make you laugh and keep you entertained by the way she plays -- and the way she loves. She enjoys nature excursions, always looking for the patch of green grass to belly crawl through. And when she`s not out exploring, she enjoys the couch-time chill. That`s when her affectionate side comes out. Missy LOVES pets, belly rubs, and lap time -- even though she exceeds the size of a normal lap-dog.
Missy is VERY smart and trains easily. She`s treat motivated and has learned a whole host of commands like sit, stay, wait, down, come, and shake. She`s also a touch-target pro and enjoys agility obstacles that most dogs are afraid of, like tunnels, A-frames, and cat-walks. She`s also house-trained, crate-trained, and rides well in the car.
While Missy loves her people, she struggles with meeting new folks. Her best self is not on display when she`s approached by new people and intros need to be slow and well-managed. With the right intro, she can quickly accept people and love them forever without looking back.
She can also behave in a similar way with new dogs. Missy has lived with another dog successfully and with the right intro was able to blend into the household and develop a agreeable relationship with her furry foster sister. As long as the match is right, she could live with and happily enjoy another dog. She just doesn`t enjoy the casual run-in with a dog she doesn`t know. And because of this, dog parks, dog beaches, and other places with a high volume of new dogs, are just not her jam.
And unfortunately, Missy is also not one to enjoy the presence of young children or cats. It`s just the cold hard truth.
Missy is Missy and while work can be done in her `areas in need of development` it will be important to understand that good management is and will also
